Analysts, operators, and managers in the manufacturing industry are responsible for a myriad of processes that need to run 24/7 without any hiccups. A large portion of their day is spent on monitoring the operational realities and then painstakingly sifting through spreadsheets to make decisions about their actions to ensure smooth performance. Due to the constraints on time and resources, operators end up making critical decisions based on intuition and gut-feeling.

They are confronted with mountains of unstructured and siloed data, which makes it difficult to leverage it. More often than not, operators are examining data reports to find a specific piece of information about their processes. Whether it’s an equipment malfunction or a performance anomaly, operators usually don’t have the time to sift through all of the alerts, signals, and graphs at their disposal.

AI algorithms can be used to automatically surface the relevant metric that operators can use to make critical decisions without wasting time searching for it. The right program can work like a bloodhound to seek out the information that matters most at any given time or situation.

Once data is collected, AI systems can automatically explore multiple paths and recommend the best one to operators. Traditionally, operators had to drain many hours into calculating the consequences of various potential future paths. AI can comprehensively explore each option and provide the best recommendation.

AI can help managers ensure that their teams have access to the latest data and the corresponding performance metrics. Traditionally, data can be siloed within departments and can become inaccessible to those working in different areas of the business. With a unified platform, managers can be certain the best information is available to their teams in every scenario.
